Top Strategic Priority
In the coming year one of our key strategic tasks is to publish our new content strategies, which we have revised in response to the Library's public consultation. We will start by setting out our intentions across all fields of research in the Arts and Humanities and the Social Sciences. We will also begin considering the timing of the transition to collecting certain categories of non-legal deposit material in electronic format only.
I joined the British Library in February 2007, having previously worked extensively in the UK research library sector. I held posts at the University of London, Glasgow University, Trinity College Cambridge, King's College London and the University of Oxford, where I was Deputy (subsequently Acting) Director of University Library Services.
Prior to taking up the Oxford post, I was based at the University of Edinburgh, as Director of the Research Support Libraries Programme, a £30million initiative funded by the UK's Higher Education Funding Councils.
I have been a member of the Board of the Consortium of Research Libraries in the British Isles and am currently Chair of the UK's National Preservation Office Board and of the Digital Preservation Coalition.
