Top Strategic Priority
Over the next year the Library is looking to review and refresh its strategic priorities, against an uncertain financial background as it awaits details of the 2007 Comprehensive Spending Review. A clear priority therefore is to ensure that, whatever the financial climate in which the Library has to operate, it makes well-informed and rigorously argued decisions about its budgetary priorities.
We will continue to examine the options available to us against different potential funding scenarios to ensure that we focus our resources on the most critical service and developmental areas of activity.
I joined the Library in January 2006, having previously spent my whole career in local Government.
Immediately before moving to the British Library, I was Finance Director at the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council, where I had worked for nineteen years.
Previously I had trained with the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) at Leeds City Council, which I joined after graduating in Economics from Southampton University.
