Top Strategic Priority

Preparing to secure the future of the world's greatest newspaper collection is a top priority. In October 2007 we will develop a business case to identify funding required to ensure the collection is housed in state of the art premises which will prevent further deterioration of this historic material. We will also start to develop innovative ways of accessing digital newspaper content in our reading rooms. We have started to consult with key stakeholders including our Readers, the newspaper industry, interest groups and politicians.

I joined the British Library in October 2006 from the DAI Group where I was Director of Public Sector Management Consulting for Europe. I have 14 years experience as a public sector manager and Director, having worked in management services in the police, local government and more recently the NHS, where I was Director of Operations for the Scottish Ambulance Service.

I have worked in over 20 countries in the field of public sector modernisation for the Capita Group, Coopers and Lybrand and the DAI Group.
