Professor Kate McLuskie

Professor McLuskie is formerly Director of the Shakespeare Institute, a renowned research and postgraduate centre within the University of Birmingham. She has previously held senior academic leadership roles as Pro Vice Chancellor at the University of Kent and Deputy Vice Chancellor at the University of Southampton.
Before taking up her position as Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Southampton, Professor McLuskie was Head of English and Director of the Arts Faculty School of Research and Graduate Studies. She has been actively involved in the work of the Arts and Humanities Research Board and is also Fellow of the English Institute. Professor McLuskie has recently completed an AHRC funded research project; 'Interrogating cultural value in 21st Century England: the case of Shakespeare'. Professor McLuskie is a trustee of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust and a governor of the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Professor McLuskie was appointed to the Board for her knowledge and experience of higher education and university affairs and her academic background in the arts and humanities.
She is a member of both the Construction Projects Committee and also the Remuneration Committee.
