Tracy Chevalier

Tracy Chevalier FRSL is an historical novelist with dual US/UK citizenship. She has written nine novels and is best known for her second novel, Girl with a Pearl Earring, which has sold over 5 million copies and was made into a 2003 film, starring Scarlett Johansson and Colin Firth.

Tracy has been a British Library Reader since 1988, when she began doing research there as a reference book editor. She is a former chair of the British Library’s Advisory Committee for Public Lending Right, and was previously a member of the Public Lending Right Management Board.

She is a Council Member of the Society of Authors (SoA) and was Chair of the Management Committee of the SoA, 2006-2008. She is President of the Royal Literary Fund, an Ambassador for the Woodland Trust, and Patron of the Lyme Regis Museum and the Dorchester Literature Festival.
