Introduction

We support UK Higher Education through our collections, services and its partnership and strategic activities.

"In recent years the British Library has very effectively positioned itself as more than a world-class collection of printed and other collections. From that collections base it has made itself a major source of knowledge for businesses and creative practitioners in the knowledge economy, a means of dissemination of research to a wider public, and above all a key part of the UK higher education research infrastructure to stand alongside large science facilities."

Professor Geoffrey Crossick, Warden of Goldsmiths, University of London

The British Library underpins business and enterprise through its contribution to knowledge transfer, creativity and innovation. We aim to ensure that UK researchers have access to the very best information resources.

In 2007 we published our Engagement Strategy for Higher Education, setting out how we will work with researchers and academic libraries in the UK.
