Digital Preservation

The British Library is collecting and creating an increasing amount of material in various digital formats. This material must be preserved for future use. The diversity of digital material and frequent changes in computer technology present challenges for long-term preservation and ongoing access. The British Library is at the cutting edge of such work.

The Digital Preservation Team liaises closely with colleagues responsible for the British Library Digital Programme to ensure the longevity of our digital collections.
