Digital Preservation Team - strategy

The British Library has established a Digital Preservation Team to take a lead in addressing digital obsolescence issues and to develop solutions that will ensure the longevity of our scientific and cultural heritage.

The Team's mission and approach is outlined in the British Library Digital Preservation Strategy.

Key activities for the Digital Preservation Team in 2007/2008 include:

  • Technology, analysis and support for the design and implementation of the Digital Object Management Programme
  • Production of preservation plans for new content streams of digital materials which will be stored in the Digital Object Management Programme
  • A risk assessment of digital collections held by the British Library
  • Implementation of a digital preservation testbed environment to facilitate technology watch activities
  • Delivery of national and international collaborative projects in digital preservation
