Our approach to Equality Impact Assessments

We are committed to meeting our obligations under the new public sector duty April 2011 for race, disability gender, transgender as well as equality between people of different religions or beliefs, marital status, age groups and sexual orientation. We also consider the potential impact of our activities on these groups when we undertake equality impact assessments with the aim to identify any potential adverse impact and remove or mitigate this where possible and to identify any opportunities for promoting equality.

The Library has developed an Equality Impact Assessment Policy, to assist managers and key decision makers in undertaking assessments of policies, strategies, services and functions and has provided EIA training.

We value the information, consultation and outcomes our EIAs produce by ensuring we give due regard to assessing the impact of our decisions on equality groups.
