Joint Committee on Legal Deposit
Terms of reference
To provide a forum for publishers and legal deposit libraries to discuss, collaborate on and resolve legal and voluntary deposit issues, both in advance of and subsequent to Regulations coming into force, including as an arbiter of any post-Regulation disputes between or within libraries or publishers.
- To share information with, and offer advice to, the Legal Deposit Advisory Panel (LDAP) and the government on legal deposit issues of perceived statutory significance.
- To carry out investigations at the request of LDAP in connection with proposed legal deposit Regulations [ or “ recommendations on legal deposit ” – AL ], subject (in appropriate cases) to government procurement procedures on the award of contracts and (in all cases) to mutual agreement with LDAP on timescales and resourcing arrangements.
- Otherwise to be a source of expertise to be called upon by LDAP, including acceptance by individual JCLD members of invitations by LDAP to serve as temporary co-opted members of LDAP structures.
