The British Library Trust is an independent charitable Trust (Charity number: 1148608) established in August 2012 to advance the understanding and appreciation of, and promote access to, the British Library collections. The registered address for the Trust is

The Trust’s areas of interest are outlined in their Articles of Association. These are specifically restricted to:

  • Promoting and supporting the British Library as a national centre for reference, study and bibliographical and other information services, in relation both to scientific and technological matters and to the humanities;
  • Promoting the availability of the services of the British Library, in particular to institutions of education and learning and other libraries
  • Promoting and advancing the development and good stewardship of the British Library collections
  • Advancing and supporting the efficient management of other libraries, library facilities and information services the support of which would be conducive or complementary to the work of the British Library.

Grant applications

The British Library Trust has entered a period of dormancy so will not be accepting any grant applications at this current time.
