Develop the attitude of an athlete

01/08/12

Rasheed Ogunlaru is a leading coach and speaker with clients that include entrepreneurs, athletes and health and fitness specialists. He regularly runs a the popular Your life, your business workshop at the Centre.

Follow some of his tips to help you achieve your goals:

1) The attitude of an athlete

One of things I often talk about in my talks and workshops is ‘adopting the attitude of an athlete’. It’s a very useful metaphor that can be applied pretty much to anything that you want to achieve be it getting a better job, changing career, growing a business or if you’re working on personal life, social life or health and wellbeing.

  1. Study your field
  2. Master your craft
  3. Gather the right team for you
  4. Know your competitors
  5. Win and keep supporters
  6. Give 100% every time
  7. Learn from wins and losses in equal measure
  8. Run your own race
  9. Keep your eye on the prize
  10. Celebrate every success

2) Overcoming the hurdles of life

There will be major hurdles in life. Things will not always go according to plan! That is if you even have a plan – so many people who say that life isn’t going to plan don’t actually have a plan – and rarely have a ‘b’ plan.

Those who tend to be happiest and most successful are those who adjust best when things are not going according to plan. Anyone can perform well when things are going your way.

In the same way that a athlete adjusts their stride pattern when they clip a hurdle, what are the adjustments that you need to make personally, professionally, socially, romantically and in your mentality?

Find out more and book a place on Rasheed’s Your life, your business workshop.
