Watch the highlights of our latest Inspiring Entrepreneurs:From Battlefield to Business. This breakthrough event was held to encourage and inspire ex-Armed Forces personnel to start their own business.

The event was held in partnership with the British Library, Heropreneurs, Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund, Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity and ABF The Soldiers' Charity, Career Transition Partnership, The Royal British Legion, Franchising Works and Help for Heroes.

The discussion was moderated by Matthew Rock founder and editor of Real Business Magazine. Speakers included: Absolute Rubbish founder Peter Fitchett, Ben Brabyn who founded Bmycharity and is co-founder of This Tribe, jewellery designer Sarah-Jane Hill founder of Bish Bosh Becca, Mark Palmer a global brand expert and former marketing director for Green & Blacks and Stephen Fear, British Library Entrepreneur in Residence.

  1. Take every piece of resettlement advice 
  2. A sense of timing - the importance of addressing the right demand
  3. Don't under estimate what you can learn talking to people over a coffee
  4. Courtesy, being on time and good customer service
  5. Test out your market 
  6. Be passionate about what you do 
  7. Don't make promises you can't keep 
  8. Think about the time you have spent in the Forces and the skills you have learnt: communications, problem solving and working in a team
