Fast-track your green patent application

The Intellectual Property Office’s (IPO) Green Channel service allows applicants to request fast-track processing for inventions with environmental benefits. The aim of the service is to help businesses get environmentally beneficial technologies into the marketplace without undue delays.

Since it’s launch in May 2009, the Green Channel has accelerated over 350 applications through the scheme. Of these, 74 patents have been granted in an average time of eight months from request to grant. It usually takes an average of two-three years to grant a patent in the UK.
