Business & IP Centre across the regions

Look out for new business services in a city near you!

Following the announcement earlier this year that we had been awarded funding from the Intellectual Property Office to explore the possibility of offering business support across the UK, we were delighted to sign an agreement with the Intellectual Property Office and six major city libraries during Global Entrepreneurship Week 2012.

The agreement signals the intention to establish a national network of services for small businesses and entrepreneurs across the country. Modelled on our services, we hope to create a strong business network across the UK to help more people set up their own businesses and trigger a surge of entrepreneurial activity in the chosen cities.

The selected libraries are part of the PATLIB network and already have core business and intellectual property collections and expertise on offer. It is hoped this new network will provide the support and advice needed to strengthen services for small businesses across the UK.

The participating libraries are:

  • Birmingham
  • Leeds
  • Liverpool
  • Manchester
  • Newcastle
  • Sheffield

Newcastle already offers a number of services and hope to be fully operational in Spring 2013, with the remaining city libraries planning to pilot the services throughout 2013 and 2014.

Keep checking the websites for further updates as the project progresses!
