Have you thought about field research?

22/10/10

The Library has huge amounts of information which is available for free in its Reading Room on business sectors, companies and markets, from financial data to industry reports.

However, sometimes it’s better to go directly to your potential customer base and talk to them face-to-face.  Through primary research, you can ask them what they think of your products and services, how much they would pay for them and find out their needs.  It can help save you time and money and establish whether there is demand for your business idea.

We can help you get the skills you need to run your own market research projects. Come along to our workshop: Practical market research: test your business idea’, run in partnership with Victor Higgs and Applied Nanodetectors. Victor’s expertise lies in taking new products to market.

On the workshop you can think about:

  • Who your customers are and their needs/desires.
  • How your products and services can meet these needs in a way that will lead them to purchase what you are offering.
  • Who your competitors are and what makes your product or service unique.
