Industrial action on 30 November

29/11/11

Planned Industrial Action – Wednesday 30 November 2011

Members of the Public & Commercial Services Union (PCS), Prospect and FDA have voted for a one day strike on Wednesday 30 November over proposed changes to public sector pensions.

The British Library at St Pancras plans to be open as usual for visitors to its public areas and exhibition galleries, but we are expecting significant disruption to our Reading Room services.

The Business & IP Centre Reading Room will be closed. Other Rooms closed on this day include Rare Books & Music; Asian & African Studies; Maps and Manuscripts. It is likely that other Reading Room services will be affected, with limited availability of material and no transfer of collection items between Reading Rooms.

Although every effort will be made to maintain opening hours of available rooms until 20.00, there is a possibility of early closure at 17.00.

We urge all visitors to check any changes to the Library’s opening hours and services.

Thank you for your understanding.
