The next Richard Branson, coming to a town near you?

The Business & IP Centre has been awarded funding from the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) to explore how the support the Centre provides entrepreneurs can be mirrored in six city libraries across the UK.
The idea was piloted with Newcastle Library last year and its hoped that the next Lord Sugar, Martha Lane Fox or Tim Campbell could be found in any one of the partner libraries, which include Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle and Sheffield.
All libraries already have core business and intellectual property collection and expertise but it is hoped that sharing the Centre’s services will create a strong business network and help create a surge of entrepreneurial activity in each city.
The funding will enable focus groups in each local area to assess the needs of that particular community and create a plan to establish how the services will be available on each site.
