Top ten networking tips
17/08/11
Business Link in London are holding a London's Business Networking event on Thursday 8 September 2011 from 16:00 to 20:00. This free event will be a perfect opportunity to meet like-minded entrepreneurs and to develop new business contacts.
Rasheed Ogunlaru, life coach, business coach and corporate speaker will be running a networking skills event. There will also be a Business & IP Centre stand where you can get information on the Centre's resources and forthcoming workshops, so perhaps, we shall see you there.
In the meantime, Rasheed has put together his top ten networking tips to enable you to network with confidence.
1) Be your self: it’s your greatest asset, if you’re anything else we’ll see right through you.
2) Be personable: it’s the most powerful way to connect, be remembered and build relations.
3) Be professional: you must embody what you do and represent your business or organisation aptly.
4) Take a genuine interest in everyone you meet: watch and see how magical this can be.
5) Do not lecture people about you, your company or what you do - nobody cares!
6) Find out about others, what they do & how you might help - then they may care about you.
7) When explaining what you do keep it short, sweet and simple - drop all the jargon.
8) Nervous? Arrive early, you’ll settle in and everyone will then be meeting you.
9) Be careful with food and drink - know your limits
10) Follow-up whilst the leads are warm - ideally the next day. Keep any promises you make.
Rasheed also runs Your life, your business workshops, here at the Centre to help entrepreneurs identify and achieve their goals.
