Now in its sixth year, The Pitch is a nationwide competition to find the best small businesses in the UK. In 2013, the champion will receive business support worth thousands of pounds, while investors have at least £275,000 to invest in at least one entrepreneur taking part.
The contest, initially just a small event in Bristol, has grown in the last six years into the biggest national competition of its sort, which not only helps its contestants and prize-winners but also other small business owners by providing advice and making connections; it has so far put hundreds of businesses on the road to success.
The investment panel this year, which comprises of Sift founder, Ben Heald, and investors from Horatio Investments and Heron Capital Partners, have joined the team with a significant amount of money to put into at least one great business, identifiable from the drive shown by going to the effort of applying as well as making it through the rigorous filtration process.
This September, the winner of the competition will get mentoring from serial entrepreneur and Crowdmission.com founder Karen Darby and a day with the founder of phenomenally successful business Morphsuits along with other invaluable business support and the investors will announce which businesses they are interested in backing.
Those interested with a brilliant business or business idea need to apply at www.thepitchuk.com/enter by 7 July after which around 50 shortlisted contestants will be selected to compete at The Pitch Live in Bristol on 25 September. Five finalists will then compete in the grand final for the chance to win the package of support.
