Sabina Ali - our success story

Sabina Ali

After a fashion degree and experience on the high street, Sabina Ali started designing her cocktail-style wedding dresses for friends in 2005, and now runs Motasem, a fashion label that creates glamorous wedding and evening dresses that can be worn again and again.

Market research reports at the Business & IP Centre helped Sabina to put together her business plan; she researched the bridal and womenswear markets to assess whether her idea could be turned into a viable business. Her analysis of these reports identified a desire for non-traditional weddings, and the wedding dresses to match.

Motasem dresses can now be bought online, and at the London showroom, off Brick Lane.

Since starting her business, Sabina has seen her dresses on the red carpet at the premiere of the first Twilight film and has had an instant hit with her Alaya dress when brides are looking for a Pippa Middleton style dress.

Sabina's business has been going from strength to strength and she has recently been selected to take part in the Centre's Innovating for Growth programme.
