What does Gateway2Investment do?
Understanding Finance for Business is a programme designed to maximise the success of London businesses in raising finance to support their growth ambitions. The programme gives hands-on support to companies in making informed choices about the type of finance they need, and gives tailored advice on raising equity investment, through seminars, workshops and one-on-one support to prepare themselves to present an attractive proposition for business angels or venture capital investors.
The programme is delivered by a team of private sector experts and specialists, and funded by the London Development Agency and European Regional Development Fund. Understanding Finance for Business is one of the products within the Solutions for Business suite of highly targeted, publicly funded products and services offering solutions to real business needs and tackling market failure.
Who can Gateway2Investment help?
London based businesses with sales of less than £40m and less than 250 employees (definition of an SME). They should be looking to raise between £100k to £5m in the next 12 months to be eligible for the programme. They should also be willing and able to pay the required fees for each stage to contribute towards the support they will receive.

The programme offers a package of tailored support for companies seeking funding including:
- Understand your options
- Identify the strengths and weaknesses of your current position
- Work with us to test and refine your proposition
- Identify the universe of potential funders for your business
- Approach funders and
- Receive ongoing support from the peer network and programme team
Participation in the programme at each stage is by invitation only, and the relevant costs will be payable prior to commencing each stage:
Stage 1: Information Seminar (free for all participants)
Stage 2: Investment Readiness Workshop (requires a one-off payment of £200 + VAT per business)
Stage 3: Investment Mentoring (requires a one-off payment of £300 + VAT)
Stage 4: Investor Introductions (requires a one-off payment of £300 + VAT)
