Internships

Over the summer the British Library will be advertising seven paid internship positions, aimed at providing work experience for those interested in pursuing careers in a variety of professional fields. Some of the internships may require specialist knowledge, while others will be open to those with a good general skill set.

Four of the internships will be based in London (St Pancras) and three at Boston Spa (near Wetherby, West Yorkshire). There will be a mixture of six and three month placements but applicants should note that the internships are for the period specified and do not lead to permanent positions with the British Library.

To find out more, watch our Vacancies Page for the internship advertisements.

Application process

All the internships will be advertised on the vacancies area of the Library’s Careers Website. Each will be clearly identified as an internship and the accompanying Job Profile will explain what the role involves, how the internship will develop skills and experience relevant to a professional career and the candidate requirements.

Interested applicants will then complete our online application form. In doing so, please ensure that you use the different areas of the application form to demonstrate how you meet the candidate requirements, as we will be using these to shortlist applicants for interview.
