Notes Byron (G. G., Lord) The works ... containing English bards and Scotch reviewers, the curse of Minerva and the Waltz. Portrait by Kennerley, half calf neat, flat spine gilt in compartments with sun tool, pastepaper sides, marbled edges, by W. Appleby, 3 Stall-Street Bath 'opposite the White Hart Inn', with his ticket (black on orange) on front pastedown, purchase inscription (Oxford, 1824) of the Rev. E. Nares Henning, pasted over with his engraved booklabel, Philadelphia, M. Thomas, 1820 £12o A rather unexpected edition to find in Oxford in 1824. Appleby is not in Ramsden; Spawn 225 is a label in a book of 1819 but 'sold by' rather than this 'bound by', BBTI records only a single directory entry, in 1830 and he is not a bookbinder. Dimensions of binder's ticket: 44x14mm.
