NotesAugustus Henry Glossop Harris took over Drury Lane in 1879 and remained there until his death. He specialised in spectacular melodrama and elaborate Christmas shows and was knighted in 1891. 'Dick Whittington' was the pantomime for the 1894/95 season at Drury Lane. Ada Blanche appeared as Dick, while Dan Leno and Herbert Campbell took the parts of Idle Jack and Eliza the Cook. At Drury Lane, Ada Blanche appeared as Principal Boy for 7 consecutive seasons from 1892 to 1898, while Dan Leno appeared in every pantomime from 1888 to 1903, when he made his final appearance as Queen Spritely in 'Humpty Dumpty'
