Beginning of the Office of the Dead
Description: Miniature of a skeleton with a scythe over one shoulder and a black sash across its body. In the surrounding border, hats of those in high office are twinned with snakes, skulls and bones; one skull holds a red book in its teeth. The resurrection of the dead is shown in a roundel at the bottom of the page. 
Origin: Italy, N. E. (Padua or Venice)
