Crucifixion
Description: None of the Virgin: a full page prefatory miniature with three scenes from the crucifixion. Above, Christ is offered the sponge with vinegar, with the two thieves on either side; in the lower left medallion, the Virgin is entrusted to the care of St John; in the lower right medallion is the conversion of Longinus. On the facing page is a historiated initial forming a partial border, depicting the ignorant priest begging Thomas Beckett to be reinstated and with a crowned hybrid creature as a terminal. Decorated initials with pen-flourishing and line fillers.
