Description: The script is an eighth-century Irish minuscule. The original decorated initial has been erased (traces of its interlace can still be seen) and a 'modern' initial Q painted over it as part of a programme of modernisation of an eighth-century Irish pocket Gospelbook perhaps carried out at Winchester for King Athelstan.
Origin: Ireland (S.E.?)
