Provenance		John Bagford: inscribed, probably by Frederic Madden, that this is 'A portion of Bagford's collection F. M.' (f. [iii]). Sir Hans Sloane (b. 1660, d. 1753), baronet, physician and collector. Purchased as part of the Sloane collection from Sloane's executors and incorporated into the newly founded British Museum in 1753: inscribed 'MS. 978', 'MS.A:800', the '800' crossed through and '1086' added.
Notes		The manuscript is a collection of fragments and leaves. Not described separately: ff. 1-23v; 25-29v; 31, 34, 36-37, 41-43, 45, 48-51, 52-54, 57-59, 60-64, 66, 79, 84-86, 89, 90-96, 98-99, 101-118, 120, 128, 130-132. ff. 10-11, 15, 67-76, and 82 were printed fragments and have been removed. Musical notation (e.g., ff. 18v, 38, 40, 77r-v, 78r-v, 80r-v, 83r-v).
