Decoration Foliate headpiece (f. 1) and other simple headpiece. Large red initials with penwork decoration, the first also with black and yellow (f. 1).

Form Paper codex
Binding Post-1600. Gold tooled red leather with a floral stamp at the centre of both covers, 18th century; gilt edges, with Greek-style 'Creton' edge painting underneath; marbled endpapers.
Provenance Written by Matthaios, hieromonk of the monastery of St Catherine, Mount Sinai, for the monk Pachomios, also of Sinai (colophon, f. 122).
Note in Greek on the eclipse of the sun 22 April 1715.
Philotheos, hieromonk, of Cyprus (?) (kepreos) (18th century inscription, f. 1).
Caesar de Missy, Prussian New Testament scholar and chaplain to George III (b. s.1703, d. 1775), acquired in 1747 (inscription: 'Ex libris Caesaris De Missy, Berolinensis: Londini, Anno 1747', f. 1): his sale, 18 March 1776, lot 1643, bought by Mason.
George Mason, writer and book collector (b. 1735, d. 1806).
Charles Burney (b. 1757, d. 1817), D.D., classical scholar.
Acquired by the British Museum as part of Burney’s library from his son Charles Parr Burney in 1818.
Notes Psalms (ff. 1-111v); Odes 1-9 (ff. 111v-122); Hymns to the Trinity (ff.123-125).
Polites and Maria Polite, 1994, p. 550, list 15 manuscripts at Mount Sinai signed by Matthaios, hieromonk of Sinai between 1648 and 1669, including 9 Psalters.
