Scribe Written by 4 different scribes.
Decoration 3 zodiacical figures, 1 in brown ink, 2 with red, yellow and light pink (ff. 36v, 37, 46). 4 Diagrams including a diagram of the world (f. 36). Large and small initials in plain red, some with reserved designs. 1 large initial in blue (f. 39). Capital letters highlighted in red. Elaborate cadels with foliate, zoomorphic or human motifs in brown ink decorated in red. Holes in the parchment encircled in red.

Official foliation ff. 56 (+ 3 paper flyleaves at the beginning, and 3 at the end)
Collation i-iii8 (ff. 1-24), iv8+3 (4th, 5th and 8th leaves are singletons; ff. 25-35), v8+1 (the 9th leaf is a singleton; ff. 36-44), vifour (ff. 45-48), vii8 (ff. 49-56).

Provenance ? Thomas Howard (b. 1585, d. 1646), 2nd earl of Arundel, 4th earl of Surrey, and 1st earl of Norfolk, art collector and politician.
Henry Howard (b. 1628, d. 1684), 6th duke of Norfolk, presented to the Royal Society in 1667.
The Royal Society, London (its ink stamp: 'Soc. Reg. Lond / ex dono HENR. HOWARD / Norfolciensis.', f. 1; the pencil inscription: ‘XIII.7.36’, f. iii verso).
Purchased by the British Museum from the Royal Society of London together with 549 other Arundel manuscripts in 1831.
