Provenance 'Expliciunt Statuata Provincialia per manus Johannis Archfeld de Esschen [Eschwege an der Werra] scripta et completa sub anno Domini mo ccco xlvo in vigilia beati Dyonisii' (f. 29); see also Arundel 379, ff. 28-31, which was written by the same scribe in Avignon in 1349; he also wrote another manuscript there in 1344, and the present manuscript may also have been written there (see Watson, 1979, p. 93 n. 468).
The Carthusian abbey of Mainz, 1345: the author, Petrus de Aspelt, was the archbishop of Mainz, and the scribe, Johannes Arsfeld, was a Mainz Carthusian (see Watson 1979).
? Thomas Howard (b. 1585, d. 1646), 2nd earl of Arundel, 4th earl of Surrey, and 1st earl of Norfolk, art collector and politician.
Henry Howard (b. 1628, d. 1684), 6th duke of Norfolk, presented to the Royal Society in 1667.
The Royal Society, London (its ink stamp: 'Soc. Reg. Lond / ex dono HENR. HOWARD / Norfolciensis.', f. 1).
Purchased by the British Museum from the Royal Society together with 549 other Arundel manuscripts in 1831.
