Decoration 7 miniatures in roundels or foliate frames in the margins in colours and gold (ff. 5v, 6, 6v, 7, 8, 8v, 9). Full foliate border in blue, pink, green, yellow, and gold (f. 1). 19 large historiated initials in colours and gold and sometimes silver, with foliate decoration forming a partial border at the beginning of books (ff. 5, 33v, 59, 73v, 96, 121, 137, 143, 151, 158v, 174v, 195, 207v, 228v, 245v, 265, 283v, 297v, 312v). Large initials in gold and colours, usually pink and green, sometimes with foliage extensions into the borders (ff. 1-9v). Large initials in colours. Large initials in red with brown and sometimes red penwork decoration, or in blue with red and sometimes blue penwork decoration, many with faces. Highlighting of letters in red.

Provenance Written by George Rorer in Regensburg in 1465: with his colophon in volume II ('Explicit vetus Testamentum per Georgium Rorer de Ratispona [Regensburg] Sub anno domini Millesimmo Quadringentesimo sexagesimoquinto Sabbato post Margarethe' ).
Bought by the British Museum at Christie's 23 March, 1860, lot 1287, using the Farnborough Fund (£3,000 bequeathed in 1838 by Charles Long, Baron Farnborough (b. 1761, d. 1838), a cousin of Francis Henry Egerton, 8th Earl of Bridgewater (b. 1756, d. 1829), founder of the collection.
