Decoration Full-page foliate border in blue, pink, green, yellow, purple, and gold (f. 1). 23 large historiated initials in colours and gold and sometimes silver, with foliate decoration forming a partial border at the beginning of books (ff. 1, 41, 53v, 58, 60, 69, 93v, 123v, 160v, 164v, 194v, 206v, 211, 212v, 216, 216v, 218, 220v, 221v, 223, 224, 225, 230). Large initials in red with brown and sometimes blue penwork decoration, or in blue with red and sometimes blue penwork decoration, many with faces. Small initials in red or blue. Rubrics in red. Highlighting of letters in red. Cadels.

Binding Pre-1600. c. 1500? blind-tooled white pigskin over wooden boards; metal clasps; eddges gauffered and gilt.
Provenance Written by George Rorer of Regensburg in 1465: with the colophon 'Explicit vetus Testamentum per Georgium Rorer de Ratispona [Regensburg] Sub anno domini Millesimmo Quadringentesimo sexagesimoquinto Sabbato post Margarethe etc.' (f. 255v).
Bought at Christie's 23 March, 1860, lot 1287, by the British Museum, using the Farnborough Fund (£3,000 bequeathed in 1838 by Charles Long, Baron Farnborough (b. 1761, d. 1838), a cousin of Francis Henry Egerton, 8th Earl of Bridgewater (b. 1756, d. 1829), founder of the collection.
