Decoration 12 full-page miniatures, accompanied by large decorated initials, the first in an architectural frame with a bas-de-page scene, the others with full foliate borders, in colours and gold, for major text divisions (ff. 14, 22v, 31v, 33, 34, 38v, 42, 45, 48, 51, 56, 71). All text pages with partial foliate borders, in colours and gold. Smaller decorated foliate initials, in colours and gold. Small initials and line-fillers in gold on red and blue grounds.
In the style of the Master of the Echevinage de Rouen.
Dimensions in mm 190 x 130 (110 x 70)
Official foliation ff. 102 (+ 3 paper flyleaves at the beginning, and 3 at the end)
Form Parchment codex
Binding Post-1600. Gold-tooled red leather.
Provenance Unidentified owner: added arms (ff. 1v, 2).
Sir Hans Sloane (b. 1660, d. 1753), baronet, physician and collector.
Purchased as part of the Sloane collection from Sloane's executors and incorporated into the newly founded British Museum in 1753.
