Register of Preservation Surrogates

A catalogue of printed book and music titles on archival microform. It covers texts from all periods and languages with the exception of those in Oriental and Arabic scripts (Russian, Greek and Hebrew works have transliterated entries).

You cannot request items from this catalogue. Information on ordering microfilms is available.

The Register of Preservation Surrogates is a union catalogue so you may find records of microforms films which are in other UK libraries. We do not have these films. Direct any queries to the holding library. It should be clear from the record who this is.
NB: There is one exception in that we have a full set of the Nineteenth Century Project's film. Most are from British Library copies but they have filmed in other libraries and you can order the microfiche of these from our copies.

To be a complete catalogue the Register records series parts, down to single issues, and single volumes which may have been filmed in the past. The records for these may imply that more has been filmed than is the case. Please interpret the full record carefully.

Positive microforms can be ordered to St Pancras Reading Rooms using Explore the British Library, the Library's main catalogue. Note that you cannot search this catalogue for positive microforms but you can use the 'Reservation List' link on the catalogue to order the item. More information is available on our website.
Note that the system only recognises film numbers that begin with M so do not enter the letters PB, e.g. PB.Mic.C.123 should be ordered as Mic.C.123.
