Notes: One of a small number of copies printed. - With a slip attached to the titlepage, reading: "The plates of the present work are impressed by the agency of Light alone, without any aid whatever from the artist's pencil. They are the sun-pictures themselves and not, as some persons have imagined, engravings in imitation." - [5] of the leaves of plates have 2 mounted photographs. - With the stamp of the Patent Office Library.

Description or title: This work was produced by the inventor of the negative-positive process, William Henry Fox Talbot, in 1845, a year after the publication of "The pencil of nature", one of the most important examples of early photography and printing. "Sun pictures in Scotland" contains 23 salted paper prints from calotype negatives.
