This is a book of readings addressed to young people, to be used at school. It is part of the Bemporad Library for Boys, a collection of books containing patriotic readings for adolescents.

About 12 million Italians under 14 were subjected to systematic propaganda through school books and reading books. These publications exalted war, patriotism and the spirit of sacrifice.

Libro di letture rivolto ai ragazzi, da utilizzare a scuola. Come il libro successivo fa parte della “Biblioteca Bemporad per i ragazzi”, libri di letture patriottiche per adolescenti.

Furono circa 12 milioni i ragazzi italiani, sotto 14 anni, ai quali fu impartita una sistematica letteratura di propaganda, nei libri scolastici e di lettura. Veniva esaltato il sentimento patriottico e lo spirito di sacrificio.

Illustrazioni ispirate ai valori patriottici in tempo di guerra di Carlo Chiostri (Firenze, 1863-1939), famoso pittore e illustratore italiano. Fu uno dei primi disegnatori di Pinocchio e diede volto al burattino del celebre volume di Carlo Collodi, conosciuto in tutto il mondo.
