In Albania, forgotten by all

Description

This photograph shows a military unit marching through the Albanian mountains. The panoramic overview shows the harsh conditions through which the army and civilians had to pass, fleeing in the wake of a superior enemy.

It was taken by Russian war photographer and artist Samson Tchernof, who is particularly remembered for his remarkable testimonials from this, the Great Retreat.
