La Vie électrique (The Electric life) which first appeared in 1890 is an ingenious anticipation of future trends and pointed caricature by the writer and illustrator Albert Robida. It describes various aspects of life in France in 1955. Robida’s 20th century is a century of air transportation for the individual (aero-taxi); communications technology such as the ‘téléphonoscope’, a device that is capable of transmitting visual information; and the emancipation of women.
