Spare Rib magazine issue 054

Description

One of the demands of the women’s liberation movement was to end discrimination against lesbians and Spare Rib campaigned vociferously on this issue. Many lesbians fought for the right to express their identity in public. The ‘Lesbian’s Ignite’ badge was one way in which lesbian activists challenged the pervasiveness of homophobia in British society during the 1970s and 80s.
