This Talbotype
(Talbot's family and friends suggested that his name should be reflected
in his invention) photograph was produced by Nicholas Henneman,
assistant to William Henry Fox Talbot. Stirling-Maxwell's work is
reputed to be the first published photographically illustrated book
to contain photographs of original paintings and engravings of art.
The image shown is a photograph of an engraving by P. Perete for
Origen y dignidad de la Caça: por Juan Mateos, Ballestero principal
de Su Magd., Madrid, 1634.
