This history of the Royal Horticultural Society was published as a memorial tribute to Prince Albert, a former President of the Society. The text is illustrated with an amalgam of woodcuts, chromolithographs and original photographs, and encased in an ornate binding by John Leighton. The photographs were taken by C. Thurston Thompson, official photographer to the South Kensington Museum.
