As
an illustrator, Burne-Jones (1833-98) is best known for his work
with William Morris and the Kelmscott Press during the 1890s. He
published only eight book designs during the 1850s and 1860s but
his style is instantly recognisable. Here he provided one of his
characteristic, dominating single figures for an unsigned poem in
Good Words, a leading illustrated magazine of the period.
