2007 Twelfth Annual Douglas W. Bryant Lecture

This 2007 lecture entitled 'The New Security: A Post-Cold War Understanding of Security in the 21st Century', was given by Gary Hart on Wednesday 14 March 2007, in the British Library Conference Centre.

Gary Hart represented the State of Colorado in the US Senate from 1975 to 1987. In 1984 and 1988, he was a candidate for his party's nomination for President. Since retiring from the Senate, he has been extensively involved in international law and business, as a strategic advisor to major U.S. corporations. Currently Scholar in Residence at the University of Colorado and Distinguished Fellow at the New America Foundation, he was recently named chairman of the Council for a Livable World and is chairman of the American Security Project. He was co chair of the U.S. Commission on National Security for the 21st Century.

He has earned a Phd from Oxford University and graduate law and divinity degrees from Yale University. He is the author of 17 books, including Restoration of the Republic: The Jeffersonian Ideal in 21st-Century America.
