1901 Census Online	Site offers free searching of the digitised census returns by name, address, institution and vessel. Searching is free, but access to detailed information and images of original documents is charged.
19th century British Library newspapers	Part of the British Library Newspapers collection, 19th Century British Library Newspapers provides researchers with the most comprehensive collection of national and regional newspapers of Victorian Britain available. This full-text, fully searchable digital archive includes 46 papers originating in England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland, carefully selected by an editorial board from the British Library and providing a broad yet detailed view of British life in the 19th century. ABI Inform Global	Contains 2,700 academic journals, newspapers business, management and economics publications. Abstracts from 1971 onwards, full text articles from 1987. This resource is only available in British Library Reading Rooms.

AGRICOLA	A bibliographic database of citations to the agricultural literature created by the National Agricultural Library and its cooperators. This resource is freely available on the Internet.
Agris 1975 to present	An international multi-lingual database covering all aspects of agriculture. This resource is only available in British Library Reading Rooms.
AMED 1985 to present	Covers journal articles on allied and alternative health. Subjects covered include: Acupuncture, homeopathy, hypnosis, chiropractic, osteopathy, rehabilitation, herbalism, holistic treatments, Chinese medicine, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, podiatry. Archive of African Journals	Digitized full text of articles of eleven social science and humanities journals courtesy of the African E-Journals Project. This site is freely available on the Internet.
Art Index 1984 to present	Art Index, produced by The H.W. Wilson Company, is a bibliographic database that indexes articles from periodicals published throughout the world. Periodical coverage includes English-language periodicals, yearbooks, and museum bulletins, as well as periodicals published in French, Italian, German, Japanese, Spanish, Dutch, and Swedish. In addition to articles, this database indexes reproductions of works of art that appear in indexed periodicals. This resource is only available in British Library Reading Rooms.
ARTbibliographies Modern	Full abstracts of journal articles, books, essays, exhibition catalogues, PhD dissertations, and exhibition reviews on all forms of modern and contemporary art. Entries date back as far as the late 1960s. This resource is only available in British Library Reading Rooms.

Australian Newspapers (The National Library of Australia)	Australian online resources: books, images, historic newspapers, maps, music, archives and more. Inlcudes historic Australian newspaper pages from 1803 -1954, digitised as part of the Australian Newspaper Digitisation Project. This site is freely available on the Internet.
Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals	Comprehensive listing of journal articles on architecture and design, including the history and practice of architecture, landscape architecture, city planning, historic preservation, and interior design and decoration. The American and international journals indexed include not only scholarly and popular periodical literature, but also publications of professional associations, American state and regional periodicals, and the major serials on architecture and design of Europe, Asia, Latin America, and Australia. Coverage is mainly from 1934 to the present, with selective coverage back to 1741. This resource is only available in British Library Reading Rooms.

Bibliography of American Literature	Recognised as one of the greatest achievements of twentieth-century scholarship, the Bibliography of American Literature describes in exhaustive detail the works of America's most important literary writers from the time of the Revolution to the 1930s. More than 37,000 works are listed, essentially the complete printed record of American literature from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Bibliography of the Hebrew Book	Comprehensive interactive bibliography of all books printed in the Hebrew Language between 1473 and 1960. It includes over 100,000 titles and 12,000 authors. This resource is freely available on the Internet.
Bibliography of the History of Art	Indexes and abstracts art-related books, conference proceedings and dissertations, exhibition and dealer's catalogues, and articles from over 1,400 periodicals. The product of collaboration between the Getty Research Institute of the J. Paul Getty Trust and the French Institut de l'Information Scientifique et Technique du Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique. It includes and extends the coverage of its two predecessor art indexes: Répertoire d'Art et d'Archéologie (RAA) from 1973 to 1989 and International Repertory of the Literature of Art (RILA) from 1975 to 1989. Biological Abstracts 1985 to present	Covering journal articles on all aspects of the life sciences, Biological Abstracts is the electronic equivalent of the print version of Biological Abstracts, the leading abstracting and indexing reference publication for life sciences information. Book Review Digest Plus	A bibliographic database that cites and provides excerpts of reviews of current English-language fiction and non-fiction books for children and adults. An abstract of each book is also provided. Periodical coverage includes leading magazines from the United States, Canada and Great Britain. Period covered: 1983 to date.
Book Review Digest Retrospective: 1908-1982	A bibliographic database that cites and provides excerpts of reviews of adult and children's fiction and non-fiction in over 500 key English-language popular magazines, newspapers and academic journals from 1905-1982.

The British Cartoon Archive Online Catalogue 1904 to date	The British Cartoon Archive Online Catalogue contains images and details of over 120,000 cartoons published in the British press from 1904 to date. The records are of cartoon artwork, newspaper cuttings, photocopies etc held by the British Cartoon Archive, University of Kent. This site is freely available on the Internet.
British Columbia Historical Newspapers 1865-1924	University of British Columbia project providing access to 24 historical newspapers from British Columbia dating from 1865 to 1924. This site is freely available on the Internet.
British Humanities Index	Indexes over 370 internationally respected humanities journals and weekly magazines published in the UK and other English speaking countries, as well as quality newspapers published in the UK. Covers 1962 to date. This resource is only available in British Library Reading Rooms.
The British Newspaper Archive	The British Newspaper Archive is a partnership between the British Library and brightsolid online publishing to digitise up to 40 million newspaper pages over a 10 year period. Approx 200 newspaper titles are already available with new pages and titles being added every day. NB: To access the site in the Reading Room you can register using your own personal email account. British Nursing Index 1985 to date	Indexes the most popular English language nursing journals published primarily in the UK. This resource is only available in British Library Reading Rooms.
British Online Archives	Access to digitised copies of archives held in Britain, with a detailed finding aid for each archive held. At the start of 2008, collections held are the Parliamentary Labour Party papers, covering the period form 1968/69 up to 1993/94, and reports of the BBC Listener Research Department 1937- c1950. Collections to be added include the institutional archives of the Communist Party of Great Britain. Future collections will cover government publications, the industrial revolution, and records of Britain's relationship with the Americas, Asia and Africa.
