Access from outside the Library is not available owing to licensing restrictions. Except where indicated, titles are available in all the Library's London Reading Rooms. Staff in the Business & IP Centre will help you make the best use of these resources.

Downloading information to memory stick is available from some of the databases in the Business & IP Centre. Please ask at the enquiry desk and a member of the team will take a note of your details before commencing download. Some of the news databases allow direct emailing of articles.

All downloading is subject to licensing terms and conditions with relevant rights holders. Many of our suppliers limit the number of downloads and all restrict the use of downloaded or emailed information to personal use only, and may change or cancel these arrangements without prior notice. Library staff are obliged to ensure compliance with these terms and have the right to refuse downloading requests.
The downloading service is subject to the availability of staff and may be withdrawn or reduced during busy periods or at times, such as evenings, when fewer staff are available.
Readers must supply their own memory stick which will be subject to a virus scan prior to any downloading taking place. The British Library assumes no responsibility for damage, theft, or loss of any kind to digital storage devices and their contents.

Intellectual Property Office The official government body responsible for Intellectual Property (IP) rights in the United Kingdom. Site provided access to UK national patent, trade mark and registered design information. Also application forms, fee information and general information relating to IP.
OHIM Registered Community Design search database The Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM) is the official registration office of the European Union responsible for the registration of Community design (RCD) applications. This is the OHIM Registered Community Design search database.
OHIM Community Trade mark search database The Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM) is the official registration office of the European Union responsible for the registration of Community trade mark (CTM) applications. This is the OHIM Community Trade mark search database.
Patent Full-Text Databases The website of the US Patent and Trademark Office. For searching US national utility patents and design patents. Links through to the US trademark electronic search service database (TESS).
Patent scope A World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) database which allows access to millions of patent documents namely International Patent Applications under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) plus regional and national patent collections from 25 participating countries.
