The electronic databases available in the British Library's London Reading Rooms cover business and intellectual property, the humanities (including rare books and music), manuscripts, maps, science, social science and official publications, newspapers and our Asia, Pacific & Africa Collections.

Owing to licensing restrictions, these resources can only be accessed from British Library workstations within our Reading Rooms and Business & IP Centre.

Index Islamicus	Index Islamicus is the international classified bibliography of publications in European languages on all aspects of Islam and the Muslim world. The publications recorded are (journal) articles, books and reviews. All essays and papers contained in multi-author volumes are recorded, classified and indexed separately. About 2500 periodicals are surveyed, including general history, social science, history of science and arts titles as well as specialist area- and subject-based ones. Index of Organism Names	The most complete source of organism names available with millions of animal names, both extant and extinct, at all taxonomic ranks, reported in the scientific literature since 1978, together with plant and virus names.
Index to 19th Century American Art Periodicals	Covers 42 periodicals published in the United States during the 19th century, and indexes the entire contents of each issue-articles, art notes, illustrations, stories, poems, and advertisements. Index to Foreign Legal Periodicals	Multilingual and multinational, indexes articles and book reviews appearing in over 500 legal periodicals. Also analyzed are the contents of approximately 80 individually published collections of legal essays, festschrifts, melanges, and congressional reports, dating from 1985. Index to Printed Music: Collections & Series	A database for finding individual pieces of music published in standard scholarly editions, such as 'Collected works'. The music included is published in sets and series and organized according to various criteria, e.g. by composer, by geographical area, or by time or style period. Index to Theses 1970 to present	This database covers theses accepted by universities in Great Britain and Ireland from 1716 onwards, with abstracts from 1970. The full-text of many of the theses included may be consulted via EThOS, the British Library's Electronic Theses Online Service. India Office Family History Search	The India Office Family History Search database will eventually provide access to around 300,000 brief records for births, marriages, military and naval service, deaths, burials, baptisms, bonds, pensions, wills and brief biographies of Europeans in British India up to 1947. India Office Select Materials	These catalogues cover the holdings of India Office Private Papers, Prints and Drawings, and Photographs within the Library's Asia, Pacific and Africa Collections. INSPEC (Available through Engineering Village) 1969 to present	Provides bibliographic references with abstracts to worldwide published literature on physics, electronics, electrical engineering, computer science and information technology. Integrated Tariff of the United Kingdom	The Tariff consists of 3 volumes: Volume 1 contains essential background information for importers and exporters. It covers duty relief schemes, contact addresses for organisations such as Department Of Trade and Industry, Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (formerly MAFF) and Forestry Commission. It also contains an explanation of Excise duty, Tariff Quotas and many similar topics. Volume 2 contains the 65,000 or so Commodity Codes set-out on a chapter-by-chapter basis. It lists duty rates and other directions such as import licensing and preferential duty rates. Volume 3 contains a box-by-box completion guide for import and export entries - the C88 form, the complete list of Customs Procedure Codes (CPCs) for importing and exporting, the Country Codes for the world, lists of UK docks and airports both alphabetically and by their Entry Processing Unit (EPU) numbers, and further general information about importing or exporting. International Crisis Group	The International Crisis Group (ICG) is an independent, non-profit, multinational organisation, which works through field-based analysis and high-floor advocacy to prevent and resolve deadly conflict. It produces a series of in-depth reports on areas of conflict all over the world. The reports on regional conflicts in Indonesia are particularly valuable. The website made by the Underground Press Archive Group provides access to issues of the International Times published in the years: 1966-1980; 1982; 1986 and 1994. Internet Library of Early Journals	ILEJ is a joint project by the Universities of Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester and Oxford. The core collection includes runs of at least 20 consecutive years of The Annual Register, Blackwood's Edinburgh Magazine, The Builder, The Gentleman's Magazine, Notes and Queries and the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society. IOS Press	IOS Press publishes international journals, ranging from computer science and mathematics to medicine and the natural sciences.
Iraq 1914-1974	Iraq 1914-1974 comprises original source material from the Foreign Office, Colonial Office, War Office and Cabinet Papers covering the period from the Anglo-Indian landing in Basra in 1914 through the British Mandate in Iraq of 1920-32 to the rise of Saddam Hussein in 1974. Major policy statements and other working documents are set out in context, the minor documents and marginalia revealing the workings of the mandate administration, diplomacy, treaties, oil and arms dealing. The resource includes photographs, colour maps from The National Archives and contemporary film. Isskustvo kino	Founded in the 1930s and devoted to art in Russian film, the journal Iskusstvo kino is renowned as one of Russia's premier journals of cinema. Iskusstvo kino offers movie reviews, articles on filmmaking and cinema culture, criticism, and essays and traces Russian arts and culture from the 'socialist realism' era - when film became the prime propaganda tool ("agitki") for instilling Communist fervour in the masses - all the way through contemporary filmmaking. With more movie screens than any nation at any time, the Soviet Union's cinematic legacy helped shape the artistic and social agenda of the socialist world for most of the Twentieth Century. Izvestiia Digital Archive (DA-IZV)	A full archive of the newspaper Izvestiia. Among the longest-running Russian newspapers, Izvestiia was founded in March 1917 and during the Soviet period was the official organ of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. Remarkable for its serious and balanced treatment of subject matter, Izvestiia has traditionally been a popular news source within intellectual and academic circles.
