The electronic databases available in the British Library's London Reading Rooms cover business and intellectual property, the humanities (including rare books and music), manuscripts, maps, science, social science and official publications, newspapers and our Asia, Pacific & Africa Collections.

Owing to licensing restrictions, these resources can only be accessed from British Library workstations within our Reading Rooms and Business & IP Centre.

Except where indicated, titles are available in all the Library's London Reading Rooms.

National Central Library of Taiwan 1993-	The National Central Library (NCL) is the sole national library of Taiwan . The library's mission is to acquire, catalog, and preserve national publications and to make these resources available to government agencies, private organizations, researchers, and the general public to advance national learning and cultural preservation. National Democratic Institute	The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) is a non-profit organization working to strengthen and expand democracy worldwide. Calling on a global network of volunteer experts, NDI provides practical assistance to civic and political leaders advancing democratic values, practices and institutions. NDI works with democrats in every region of the world to build political and civic organizations, safeguard elections, and to promote citizen participation, openness and accountability in government. National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE)	The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence is the independent organisation responsible for providing national guidance on the promotion of good health and the prevention and treatment of ill health. On 1 April 2005 NICE joined with the Health Development Agency to become the new National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (also known as NICE). Nature Publishing Group	Publishes journals and online databases across the life, physical and applied sciences and, most recently, clinical medicine. Content encompasses daily news from award-winning journalists, expert opinion and practical methodology, and more high impact research and reviews than any science publisher. Over 30 journals are published in association with prestigious academic societies.
Naxos Music Library (NML)	Naxos Music Library (NML) offers not only practically all standard repertoire, but also an enormous range of specialist repertoire not available from other online sources. The recordings in Naxos Music Library include the complete catalogues of BIS, Chandos, CPO, Hänssler, Hungaroton, Marco Polo, Naxos and selected titles of other leading independent labels, with more labels being added from time to time. The New Hollstein Dutch and Flemish Etchings. Part: The Van Doetcum Family 1554 -1606	1053 high resolution images of maps, views, engravings and woodcuts produced by the Van Doetcum Family. NewspaperSG (The National Library of Singapore)	An online resource of digitised historic newspapers from Singapore and Malaya. Site allows you to search the digital archive of papers published between 1831 and 1989 and includes The Straits Times 1845-1989. You can also find information about the National Library of Singapore’s microfilmed newspapers. All images are watermarked and the image quality is variable. British Library Newspapers (Colindale) holds most of the digitised titles on microfilm. The Nineteenth Century Serials Edition (ncse)	The Nineteenth-Century Serials Edition (ncse) is a free, online edition of six nineteenth-century periodicals and newspapers. ncse includes full runs of the first five titles, and a decade only of the Publishers' Circular. Titles are represented as completely as possible, including multiple editions, advertisements, wrappers, and supplements where these could be found. Titles are: Monthly Repository (1806-1837) and Unitarian Chronicle (1832-1833), Northern Star (1838-1852), Leader (1850-1860), English Woman's Journal (1858-1864), Tomahawk (1867-1870), and Publishers' Circular (1880-1890). All six journals are segmented to article level, and can be downloaded freely. This site is freely available on the Internet.
Nineteenth Century Short Title Catalogue (NSTC)	British books printed between 1801 and 1919. This includes all books published in Britain, its colonies, and the USA, as well as all books in English and all translations from English. A number of major library catalogues have been used, including: The Bodleian pre-1920 catalogue, the main catalogue of Cambridge University Library, Trinity College Dublin Library, National Library of Scotland, Harvard University's union catalogue, The Library of Congress MARC and PRE-MARC files and the British Library's General Catalogue of Printed Books to 1955. Northern Ireland: a Divided Community, 1921-1972: Cabinet Papers of the Stormont Administration	The Stormont Administration ran Northern Ireland as a province of the UK from 1921-72. This digital resource offers full-text searching of facsimile images of the complete record of Stormont from the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland, along with new interpretative essays and resources. "CAB 4" represents a unique record of "how government actually works" through turbulent and often violent times. This is a subscription based service and can only be accessed from the reading room.
