BBC Catalogue The BBC Catalogue offers access for users of the British Library Reading Rooms to a catalogue of BBC radio and television programmes, with playable programmes from mid-2007 onwards. It comprises data from the BBC's programme catalogue and BBC television and radio programmes recorded off-air. There are around 2.2 million catalogue records from the 1950s onwards, and over 200,000 playable television and radio programmes broadcast from July 2007. At present the service covers programmes to June 2012, but will be extended to more recent programmes soon.
Columbia Gazetteer of the world A database of names, descriptions, and characteristics of over 165,000 places in the world. Includes both modern and historical place names.
Credo Reference Credo Reference is an online reference library that provides access to a large number of encyclopedias, dictionaries, thesauri, and other reference books. Subjects covered include art, biography, history, literature, music, religion, and science and technology.
Encyclopaedia Britannica Encyclopaedia Britannica includes: 73,000 articles-the entire text of the 32-volume Encyclopaedia Britannica with contributions from leading experts in various fields and many Nobel Prize winners More than 1.5 million hypertext links to find related articles 30,000 related Internet links Nearly 9,000 photos and images More than 1,200 maps Sound and video/animation files Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, 10th Edition Current Britannica Book of the Year, plus the past four editions.
Foreign Broadcast Information Service Daily Reports, 1974-1996 US government operation which translates the text of daily broadcasts, government statements, and select news stories from non-English sources. Covers: Middle East & [North] Africa, 1974-1987; Near East & South Asia, 1987-1996; South Asia, 1980-1987; Sub-Saharan Africa, 1974-1996; China, 1974-1996; Asia & the Pacific, 1974-1987; Eastern Europe, 1974-1996; Soviet Union, 1974-1996.

Oxford Dictionary of National Biography An illustrated collection of 50,000 specially written biographies of the men and women who shaped all aspects of Britain's past, from the fourth century BC to the year 2000, with 10,000 portrait illustraions. Updated three times a year. The online Oxford DNB also includes the entire text of the first DNB.
Oxford Reference Online (Premium Collection) Provides desktop access to language and subject dictionaries and reference works in a single cross-searchable resource.

An online biographical dictionary of British or Irish journalists who died between 1800 and 1960. Also included are a small number of journalists who, although not born in Britain or Ireland, spent a significant proportion of their career in the British Isles.

Ulrich's International Periodicals Directory Provides information on international publishers, corporate authors, periodicals, serials, annuals, continuations etc. Also complete names and addresses of many serials publishers and distributors world-wide.
Waterloo Directory of English Newspapers and Periodicals 1800 - 1900 Database listing 50,000 newspaper and periodical titles covering all subject areas. Scope includes titles in any language, published during any part of their life-span in England between January 1,1800 and December 31, 1900. The Directory is the most comprehensive reference work on 19th century English newspapers available.
